Dunbar is just one or two rail stops on a 21 to 30 minutes by train from Edinburgh’s main rail station (Edinburgh Waverley).
North Berwick is reached by a local train service taking about 30 minutes and terminating at North Berwick.
Trains will be a local service run by Scotrail or national services going between Scotland and England run by several companies.

The best ticket option
- Sadly, it is ridiculously complex to buy rail tickets in the UK. It is very easy to make mistakes. There might be 27 different ticket options for the journey from Edinburgh to Dunbar or North Berwick.
- Buy an ‘open day return’. This allows you to use any train at any time by any operating company. All tickets are ‘Off-Peak’. This might appear on the options as a more expensive option, but it means that you will have the least chance of making a mistake.
- Disruptions. Please watch for weekend rail engineering works which may disrupt the normal train timetable.
WALK FROM DUNBAR RAIL STATION TO DUNBAR HARBOUR
Walk from Dunbar rail station to the harbour – 10 to 15 minutes.
Exit rail station. Walk along Station Road. Cross the road straight ahead and around the old church into Dunbar High Street. Walk along the High street until the end. Turn Right. Go down Victoria Street past The Volunteer Arms pub. At the small crossroad junction opposite The Creel restaurant, Turn Left. Walk along the harbour side to the big propeller.
WALK FROM NORTH BERWICK RAIL STATION TO NORTH BERWICK HARBOUR
Walk from North Berwick rail station to the harbour –15 -20 minutes.
Exit rail station. Walk alongside the car park and turn left at the bus stop towards the traffic lights. Take the pedestrian crossing downhill towards the town and veer left at the bottom of the hill – where you can see the sea. Walk along the pavement next to the putting green until you reach Victoria Street. Turn left and walk until you reach the harbour. At the harbour, turn left to the steps where BlueWild sails. Occasionally we sail from the old pier – see our signs at the harbour to find this.
